A native of Lyons, New York, Matt began his legal career in the Jefferson County Public Defender’s Office, where he spent over 13 years defending individuals against a wide range of criminal charges, from DWI and traffic violations to violent felonies and homicide. His trial experience is extensive and hard-earned, having stepped into virtually every courtroom across Jefferson County and surrounding regions.

In 2016, Matt joined the Conboy Law Firm, immediately taking the lead as the firm’s top criminal defense attorney. By 2018, he became a partner. Two years later, he expanded his leadership to include the firm’s divorce and family law practice out of its Watertown headquarters. However, throughout every chapter of his career, criminal defense and DWI law have remained his foundation—where his voice, experience, and strategy have had the greatest impact.
